Technician came and installed fiber panel on the side of my house, ran new fiber to the pole and installed battery packs. He connected the wireless router, explained some of the setting and gave me the username/password so i could administer it myself.
The best part is that the phone line was moved to the fiber and has never sounded so good. My previous connection was a 6M/786k Covad line that eventually and gradually had to be reduced to 3Mb/384k as the noise margins would fluctuate constantly if there was any wind or rain outside.
Overall i think Verizon has done a great job with rolling this out, the only complaint i have so far is the setup that i had to do for another customer who switched from FIOS residential (with TV/Phone) to FIOS business so he could have a static IP.
He wanted to use a Cisco ASA behind the Verizon modem so we changed it to a bridge (which worked fine) but it killed all of the FIOS TV boxes. He ended up having a second Fiber run ($100 cost) and new static IP (IP could not be moved) and switching the original back to regular residential FIOS which fixed all of his TV's.
