    July 3, 2009

Finally I ordered my Fios Internet 2 weeks before my schedule date July 3rd. One night I was looking over Verizon's website and I was going to order DSL, but after putting my information in the system I found something exciting. Fios was an option for high speed in my area. At first I must be putting the wrong address and sure enough it's true, Verizon Fios is here. Once I saw that I decided to cancel my cable, internet, and phone from Time Warner Cable. I told them I switched to Verizon Fios and they didn't say much but a bit disappointed. Sorry Time Warner but the speed is ridiculous (15 mb down/ 512 kb up) Get real!

The package with Fios would be 69.99 for the double play (phone + internet) but you also get $5.00 credit on ur bill for 1 year and 100 Cash Back after 60 days of the order. Total comes to 64.99. Not bad at all! Before I ordered Fios I had to ask permission with my dad. He finally agrees in getting Fios so I continued in placing the order.

The tech guy came on July 3rd early in the morning but I told him to come back later because my dad was sleeping and he needs to be present to see where they will connect my service. So the guy came back around 12:30 and started explaining my dad what's Fios and where he will be doing his job. At first the guy wanted to do his way but my dad didn't like the idea and asked if he can do my dad's wishes. Finally the guy came to his sense after convincing him 4 times he began to do his work. The guy can be arrogant but he had to listen what my dad wanted or forget it no Fios in my house. I would be very disappointed.

There was only 1 truck until 2p.m. two more trucks came in. 3p.m. one truck left and 3:30 the other truck left. The guys were outside doing the wires and putting a hole next to the electricity meter and it looks great. A huge box from Motorola with the Verizon logo (ONT Terminal). Also the guy came to drill a hole in my room just next to my electrical outlet. Pretty fast with the installation. Didn't seem like 4 hrs but they were pretty fast. Once the installation was finished the guy came upstairs to my room and tested the line. First the internet and had me read the terms and conditions of the new Fios service. After that I was able to sign on. He also migrated my phone line into Fios Network (OPT terminal outside from my house) I don't hear any different in call quality but sounds great. He's final step was to unwire the phone cable running from the telephone wall because the house line is running under Fios network. The equipment that was installed in my room is a backup battery in case electricity goes off we will have back up battery for 8 hours phone + internet.

I was happy I got internet at very fast speed. (21 MB down, 6 MB upload) Advertisement says up to 20 MB down, 5 MB up but I'm getting a little bit more for both up and down. Sweet! I also heard Fios will come out soon VOIP. But that will be later this year or 2010. But for right now I'm good with Verizon's phone line. I don't agree with the extra line charge here n there but Fios is what got me to get their services. I didn't order Fios TV because I don't watch TV that often. But maybe in the future I will order my TV from them.

If Fios is available in your area, try it out and it's a great opportunity. But remember you will have to be available home for 4-6 hours when the installation people arrive to your home. Check out their offers online directly from Verizon and maybe there's a good deal just for you. I will update this review once awhile to let you know what happens in the long run. Thanks for reading!
