for most of the period since signing up for FIOS the connection has been rock solid. Over the last few months I have noticed the connection being "noisy" using the pingplotter tool; however, web surfing and gaming not really affected, but on rare occasions have been getting packet loss. The video service has also been having transient, intermittent issues (video scramble, audio dropout), but nothing horrible.
Unfortunately, verizon doesn't seem to care about noisy connections and has been unable to see any problems remotely. One tech rep diagnosed over the phone that our router was bad and sent a new one, but this didn't fix the issues (at least I have the new N router now).
They will do a truck roll, but if they don't find any issues I will be charged $100, so I'm not very happy about the tech support. Look at the attached pingplot and see if you think I have a good connection.
