Dropped EarthStink for their horrid tech support, unreliable service and ever-reduced value for money.

Called on Wednesday, was up and running on Friday. Took me a month to get EL working due to their problems.

Since I did not need a modem, I opted for "no install" option. Emailed tech support and got replies within minutes. None of the "Prove to me you are not an idiot" stuff I had with EL and their canned responses. Just "here's what you asked for, any more questions just call me." And a phone #!.

Only problem was switchover was a day early. Actually took a few hours.

Update 6/21/2008:

Here 1.5/0.256 was all that was available. Atlnex and all other ISPs said I ws on an old fiber RT that does not support higher (also 9800'.) Lately, had all kinds of noise in the line. Called BS and they "fixed it". Checked the modem and it now said the S/N was good for 6mbit+. Emailed AtlNex about it. They checked and said, yep, the line has been upgraded. They switched me over to 3.5mbit in a day or so. Now I can finally watch streaming video.

A friend says my S/N stats look like I must be less than 3000'. Could be the patched me into the new box about 1000' away. It has been there for 2 years and now they are finally switching over?

Update 2/22/2009:

Had a problem with the line. Solid sync, but near 100% packet loss. Emailed support and they called me in an hour. Was helpful, but on Sun night, could not handle Bellsouth Issues. Tech was honest and open about what she knew and could do. She gave me a temp dialup until it could be fixed in the morning (most likely a BellSouth/ATT issue).

First thing this morning (Monday), DSL started working fine. As always, great support that is local, knowledgeable and helpful.

Final update: 9/25/2013:

I hated to do this. I have nothing but good things to say about Atlanic Nexus. I have been paying for a phone line that has had no phone on it for 9 years. Used to be $14.50. With all the new charges and fees, it is now over $36. I just cant justify the expense. I refuse to switch to AT&T dry DSL as I have had nothing but grief from them.

So have switched to cable internet. I will miss AtlNex support. It has been beyond great. The tech called me about cancelling service and he actually agreed it was better for me to switch. We talked before. AT&T is being bastards and not letting them do dry DSL. He alluded to some new services they are looking into where they can compete. All the best to them; I bet they will do well.

I will always recommend them; especially to existing BS/AT&T customers. I have never had congestion problems; always the advertized speeds.
