"Real Broadband"
"I've noticed real slowdowns at night lately. Perhaps a little oversold."
"A little pricy when compared to say DSL. But DSL/cable are not available."

Value for money:

Well this is the only real broad band option I have. I negotiated a special package with absolutely no frills, just a pipe. 500/500 connection.

This is a new tower I am on and there is currently a packet loss issue. Another annoyance is being behind a NAT, like satellite, but they are opening some ports so xlink kai will run. I will say the people at Wisper have been nice and knowledgeable so far. If the issues above are repaired I'll be one happy camper.

    Update 12-12-2005
The latency has improved. Still not the best as ping will spike to 180 ms then back to 86 ms. Tests to DSLR. Occasional dropped packets as well. On-line gaming is ok but I feel it could be much better.

    Update 12-23-2005
The new backhaul was installed! Things are great now. My connection has stabilized, latency has gone down, and all is well. I would recommend Wisper for anyone without traditional broadband access.

    Update 12-04-2006
I have been having terrible latency issues now since September 2006. I have not added this info to my review because they were so helpful before. They have told me new equipment, a new backbone, etc would be in place to resolve the issue for months now and no improvement. December 1 was their last "it'll be fixed date". It appears they may have grown too much too quickly. The Vonage I have is now very unreliable when running over this network. I think I may have Verizon hook the POTS back up for reliability and then hope a WiMax provider comes along soon.

    Update 1-12-2007
Well they added new APs at the backend evidently. The latency has improved and packet loss is now gone again. Took them quite a while but it's back to broadband quality.

    Update 2-18-2009
Been awhile. As this is all I can get, in this day of 5 meg minimums, so it's not bad at all. The nightly slowdowns are a pain but I have not much of a choice. I sure will not move for a fast connection. Still keeps Vonage up. Gaming is a problem sometimes but overall I'd recommend them to someone with no other options as I.
