My household got Cogeco Voip two years ago and we haven't looked back! All of us are away at school and not having to worry about long distance calls ever is fantastic.

It's been extremely reliable. The modem for our internet also doubles as the phone connection too.

The random hiccups are things like number not being able to be connected, random bleep sounds and sometimes when dialing other people with Cogeco it instantly connects with no ring! Nothing to worry about.

Cannot dial Europe?

Do you mean by "Cannot dial Europe" that you are having a technical problem, or is it just that the rates are too high?

Take a look at Localphone. Once set up, you dial a unique number in e.g. Ottawa for each contact and it rings them directly, without having to enter a PIN or their number. Rates to landlines are very low, though mobile rates are high (imposed by the European mobile carriers).

Example rates, per minute in US$: UK, fixed 0.01, most mobiles 0.079. IT, fixed 0.01 - 0.015, most mobiles 0.129.
