    I used to think Cox was a pain. Cox was a walk in the park compared to these guys.

    I've had cable internet since the @HOME days with Cox. I went through a lot with them, but I really never considered giving up my HSI. This is an entirely different thing now. The speed I pay for is almost never what I'm getting. There was a period for about 2 months when I would have been better of with a dial up system.

    I'm paying $55 for 5000/768 service. I never get 5 or 768. Most of the time I am forced to be satisfied with 3500 to 4000 and less than 600 up, if I have internet at all. The techs don't believe anything I tell them and run the same bogus script. As if I haven't already cycled the modem before I call. The home techs seem to have little communication with the maintenance dept. who is really who fixes things. It seems you have to have 5 techs to your home before Maintenance will fix anything.

    I'm not really very happy, but there is no other choice aside from DSL, which, up until know I wouldn't even consider. These guys are managing to change my mind though.

    Here's hoping for better service after the switchover.

    Update: All the hoping brings no joy. Still getting less than half of the speed I pay for and ping times to just about everywhere have doubled (for a second time). Stay as far away from Suddenlink as possible.

    Update 2, 07Aug24: The service seems to be gaining in reliability these days however, if you have a problem the tech support still is a complete waste of time. While I'm starting to feel that I'm almost getting my money's worth, it would still be nice to be able to talk to someone down there that knows something once-in-a-while.

    Update 3, 08Jun25: We are gaining reliability all of the time. I haven't had an outage in recent memory. I'm still not real happy with the upload speeds they offer and the price is still kind of high, but overall the situation over the past year has been pretty good.

    Whatever you call it, sarcastically or not, it is NOT what I'm paying for. It is what people pay 20 bucks a month less for, but that is what they are forcing down our throats here.

    @suddenlink.net

    Suddenlink?

    More like suddenly no service. Since suddenlink took over here we have had nothing but problems. Im a maintenance supervisor at 2 apartment complexes and we provide the cable for our residents and if another company came and offered service suddenlink would lose our business. Thier tech support is none existant, the techs that come out to work on it, which is constantly lately, say there is a known problem on our node but they cant fix it. Then what the hell am I paying the highest cable and internet rate Ive ever payed for?

    Agreed

    I am a reseller for suddenlink and I have had the worst sales of all time since they took over the west Texas region.
    My customers are switching to DSL like madmen...
    I can't even play on my own clan's Call of Duty 2 server anymore because the latency is unbearable.

    I recommend that anyone with a choice stay away from them until they get their service straight. And thats coming from a guy with a 100% resellers discount!

    Re: Agreed

    As I type this, I'm experiencing pings of 250+ to all of my game servers that are normally 70-90.

    I've been on the AT&T website, but the automated method won't work for me because I don't have local phone from them. I'm going to have to dump Vonage in order to get DSL in here, but I'm gonna do it tomorrow.

    I've had enough of paying them 110 bucks for this service.

    @suddenlink.net

    thanks for the review

    I am trying to figure out how to get hooked up here in Lubbock. It helps a lot to know that SuddenLink is off the list.

    Thanks again,
