I initially joined AxVoice for a beta test. I found the service surprisingly high quality, always delivering a good connection. There were the expected development and test issues associated with a beta status. When the beta period was over, I transitioned to a paying BYOD customer and found only reliable VoIP service. I believe a 'normal' residential user will find quality, reasonably priced, full-service provider in AxVoice.
Eventually I dropped them, but only because I have several other providers with my asterisk systems. The other providers are generally cheaper by the minute and I tend to buy DIDs separately from the providers from which I purchase outbound services. Simply on a cost/call basis AxVoice, the AxVoice route was rarely selected and I could not justify retaining them in my hobby environment.
AxVoice requires a minimum $5 credit balance be maintained, at least for Pay-As-You-Go plans, and which is only a reasonable business protection for any company that would wish to remain in business. I believe the only negative I could site is that they failed to return my credit balance to me on termination of service. Since I did not pursue the matter, I must accept part of the blame on that issue.
