I have an Asterisk 1.6 PBX running at my home. I had been using a Vonage soft-phone account for over three years, but wanted to switch to a provider that supports BYOD on my primary number.
I tried these four providers: AxVoice, CallCentric, Future-Nine, and Voip.ms.
I thought that all four had similar call quality.
AxVoices website isnt very fancy, but is easy to use and felt well-written and solid. When you log on to the website, the first screen shows a list of received calls. When ordering a DID number, I was able to see a list of actual numbers to choose from before placing the order.
A phone number in my city was in stock, so it only took about four hours between when I signed up and when my number was active.
AxVoice uses my IP address to authenticate my connection. This made setup a little easier. The default authentication method for the other providers I tried is user ID and password.
AxVoice does not support E911 in my area. They do not support CNAM inbound. There is an option on the website to specify a CNAM for outbound calls, but it did not work for me.
They invoice on a monthly basis. When I signed up, I paid for one month. The second month was pro-rated to get me on a first of the month monthly schedule. Monthly invoices are charged to my credit card instead of being deducted from my balance.
I decided against this service because I wanted E911 and CNAM support.
