I ordered the Pacbell 39.95 special over the internet when it first came
    out. I got a
confirmation right there that said they would contact me within 3 biz days
    to set
up an installation apt. I called 3 days later and was told they had not yet
    got the
order from their internet server, but she would be happy to set it up for me
    right
then and just cancel the internet order when it arrived. She offered me an
    install
date in 2 weeks, I asked for one about a week later and it was no problem. I
    got
a window from 1pm to 6pm. When I got home on the faithful day, there was a
    pacbell
truck in front of my house and a message on my machine asking if they could
    come
early.. I feared the worse, but the installer came to my door about 30
    minutes
later and explained he was installing my neighbors DSL and would be to my
    house
    in about 30 minutes.

2 hours later a different tech came to my door looking for the first one. He
    went
and found him and about 15 minutes later started my install. I have USB and
requested the external USB modem which was no problem. The tech installed a
splitter at the outside box and a new jack inside. Plugged in the modem and
the pc recognized it right away.. In less then 15 minutes it was up and
    working
fine. I usually get download speeds in the 650/750 range.. It has worked
    fine
everyday and I have had no problems.. I don't use the e-mail that much so
I don't know how slow or fast it is.

Bottom line for me is I am totally satisfied, as long as it continues to
    work
    like it is now.
