My Other Reviews

·Cogent Communica..
I have their dual T1 circuit for over 5 years. This year, I tried to price other alternative as dual T1 line for over US$800 is a bit much. My building in downtown San Francisco has fiber optic line option. They qoute me for $700/month (100mbps) if I sign up for 3 years. I called bandwidth and see if they have anything like this but they have nothing remotely close to this deal.

Finally, I decided I want to terminate dual T1 line and switch over to new Fiber line. I sent email to customer service with my intention to terminate ASAP. The customer service rep replied I still have contract with them until June of this year and if I want to terminate I have to pay over $1500. He points out I sign this document 5 years ago which will automatically renew the contract for new 12 months term after intial 2 years term is up. »bandwidth.com/resources/legal/co···ual.html

I'm suprised becaus most firms will simply go month-to-month term after intial contract is up. Bandwidth.com unilaterally renew without notifing us about this situation is clearly wrong. But I have no other recourse at this time. I just want to warn other potential customers, you have leverage before you sign the contract. Try to take this unfair language out from the contract.

Contract Issue

Andrew,

You've been a customer of ours for a long time, we want to make sure you get the best Internet option at the best price... that is our business. The reason we require a year contract is the underlying carrier has Bandwidth.com on the hook year to year. We re-contract with the carriers annually to always get the lowest price, which we then pass on to customers. In some cases, we can change carriers or circuits during the contract term when a better option appears. We offer Cogent on an ICB basis. I'm happy to look into this for you: jmerrill @ bandwidth.com.
