After Rogers put their 25 GB bandwidth limit, the decision to switch was more than clear. I looked and found Acanac, good price for a good speed, so I tried it.
I contacted Paul for the connections and such. We had to get naked DSL because we have Rogers home phone, which was costly. I believe it was 180$ or something. Bell had to come to do this, then left. Then after having some other problems with understanding how the naked DSL works, I finally got it working.
A problem I had initially was that I was only getting speeds of 2.5/30. I contacted Acanac customer support to see what the problem was. So I emailed them, and I got an answer right away. About 3 minutes later actually. It was practically instant messaging. The next day I got an e-mail saying the problem was resolved and my profile was boosted to 6000/800. So I did a speedtest, and I got around 6200/800. The only small problem I've had after this single day incident, was that I have seen the speed drop to about 4-5 mbps occasionally. Though I know this could be due to a number of factors which cannot be helped. Also, I know torrents are a big deal so I should mention that torrents are throttled right now, but thats a problem from Bell, and will hopefully be resolved.
Paul was very patient and answered a barrage of questions I had for him, and always responded the next day with an answer. The co-ordination of the installations and shipping were also top notch. Everything happened on time, and did not take long.
19.95$ per month for the first year, and 30$/month or so after the first year of service. For that price you will probably get about 5000/800. Compared to other companies who offer slower speeds for a higher price. For example, Rogers offers 1000 mbps for 36$ or so a month, plus they have bandwidth limitations unlike Acanac.
All in all I highly recommend Acanac to anyone who is within their area of service.
