I had ordered the install of cable internet from Acanac on a one year contract paid up front. They were offering a special that included 24Mb/s with free home phone. I had been using DSL for the longest time at max 5 Mb/s and wanted more speed. Well I got it.
First, after ordering on Dec 20th 2011 I was informed that my install date would be on Jan 4th. I took the day off work for it to happen.
On Jan 4th I called Acanac only to be told that Rogers wanted to know what building I was in. Well the information request had gone to Acanac on Dec 22nd but they never called me. I advised that our buildings (three of them) had individual numbers and that Rogers can either show up or Acanac can pay me for making me waste a days work due to their mistake (like that would happen, but it would teach companies a lesson if the government stepped in and made them do that, also would be less missed service calls). They sent the message to Rogers to rebook.
On the 6th I was off on a vacation day and I got a call from the Rogers installer. He said that he had an appointment booked for me for installing that day. I advised fist I heard but please come over. He hooked everything up and it worked. The installer first said the connection was not great, redid my personally done cable ends to find out it was not that and then had to redo the cable end that Rogers had coming into the home for the signal to be crystal clear. Little upsetting on the waste but can handle that.
It took two hours for the provisioning to come through and I was online. The voip took a lot longer for we had to wait for Bell to release our phone number for the provisioning. Once that was done we became very impressed with the service.
Our speed has been averaging over 30 Mb/s on all tests. Some times it has even jumped to well over 50 Mb/s. Even at full bandwidth usage the Voip works without a stutter. You can not tell that we are on Voip from listening to our phone line or if we call out to someone.
Note: I went out and purchased my own cable modem and voip box. I went with a Thomson DOCS3 modem and Linksys V3 voip box. The DOCS3 modem has made all the difference and the cost difference is worth it. I suggest that.
When calling Acanac you will notice that most of their support people are working from their home and are in NORTH AMERICA! They do not rush you off the phone but work to make things happen for you. Their sales staff are usually in Canada and very friendly.
My only suggestion is that they need to move the VOIP support from email to phone for some users may not have the ability to do what is needed to get it up and running. Other then that I would suggest fully that you use them.
If you have any questions regarding this review please PM me and I will be happy to respond.
