I originally got this because I travel a lot and I wanted a connection I could reliably use anywhere I happened to be.

It works, but they're 4G advertising is a flat out lie. I have the newest datastick they offer (rocket 3.0) and I have used it all over the country. Big cities and rural, and everywhere in-between.

I usually get appx 2-5m down and about 500k up. The best I ever got was 15m down and appx 3m up. While these speeds do work and do provide browsing capability, streaming is usually very choppy at best and online gameplay is impossible due to their extreme routing problems. They refuse to fix their routing despite multiple complaints. No reason my pings should be average 600-700 ms! Satellite has less latency!

That all said, if you want mobile bb and you want usability without contract or high service charges, it does work. Barely....

uhh...

For mobile your speeds are certainly reasonable and your comparison of latency to satellite is absolutely incorrect.

Re: uhh...

I don't believe it but for once I actually agree with wirelessdog! The speeds are the same as you'd get on a phone, which is what you would expect, and even 2-3 Mb should be good for streaming. While they have good coverage of most urban areas the coverage is mostly 3G which connects at 7.2Mb to give you a measured speed of 3Mb or so. My phone can stream OK on 3G.
There aren't that many 4G towers and they are mostly located near T-Mobile stores that tend to be in shopping malls so if you want the best speed check for the location of the nearest store or just hang out at the mall when you play with your dongle.
If you want to see SLOW you should try using data on Virgin Mobile or Cricket, which never got any higher than 56k-120k when I tried it but was usually more like 27kb and was so bad I couldn't even open a web page!
