    Update - October 22nd, 2007:

It's now been just under a year since I first started using the service. Nothing but good times. I travel from work occasionally and every place I have been had EVDO Rev A available since it's rollout near my house (March-ish) in every location I've been. Even in towns out of state, small & large. Airport access has not been a problem nor has Hotel. Once have I had to move from the hotel bed to a table with the laptop due to signal, but even the occasional drops from fringe signal beat the free wifi.

Sprint has really dropped the ball on the customer service and support side. My blood boils at the end of every issue (usually before the end) dealing with one hand that doesn't know what the other's doing. Our corporate rep sucks, the end-user level support teams generally suck, and not once has any issue with this service (or the other aircards I maintain and troubleshoot, about a dozen I'd say offhand) been resolved in a single call that I can recall. HOWEVER, even with that said, once the unit is provisioned I've had next to zero problems.

A serious set of storms rolled through a few months ago and knocked out the tower completely for a few hours (roam only signal on phones & aircard) and when it came back up EVDO was dropping on a regular basis for a few days. I didn't bother calling in, and I can safely assume I'm 50% or better of the customers pulling from this tower, but alas they still had it straightened out quickly enough.

So as long as I don't need to TALK to them, things are great. Would I switch to another "3g" mobile broadband? WiMAX maybe, but nothing else!

    Origonal March '06-ish Review:

I've had this service since around 11/06. Card was sent activated and worked from the get-go. No install problems, I had two outages at home lasting about an hour each, and EVDO Rev A just went live this past weekend in my area. I live next to a Sprint tower so at home it's awesome for primary internet access. I've been at a few airports and hotels with it without any problems either, even in some rural areas. I get DSL-like speeds, really. Ping times are down to around 110ms with the recent RevA upgrade.

    Thanks, Sprint!!
