We have no phone service or cable TV at our new rural home, so the only internet options involve some sort of radio link. There are a couple of local home-experimenter types that have terrestrial microwave or 900Mhz links they'll sell ya, but neither seem to focus on customer service. Satellite internet is an option, but their terms (like throttling and monthly maximums) didn't sound like a good match for us.
Alltel's EVDO promised (like everybody else) more BW than they deliver, but it's not bad. . . usually. Odd though, that after long connect times (like overnight) the throughput drops to less than 100k. It can generally be restored by disconnecting from the Alltel network and reconnecting. Wassup with that?
