I subscribed to this company because in the town I moved to, it is either them or dialup. First of all, after I moved into my apt, I was given the number to Longview by the apt manager, and gave them a call the next day. After many calls, no answer. I tried their website, it was no longer online. After 3 days of trying to call them, I happened to come across a customer service number online and called them to see what is going on, and turns out they outsource their tech support to some other company, and the person on the line did not even know if Longview was even in business anymore! I asked them how can you answer the phone "Longview tech support" if you dont even know if they are in business...and he said "good question". So finally, the next day I got another tech person, and they were able to inform me Longview had been sold to another company...so long story short, I begrudgingly signed up. The following week, the installer cam (I was forced to pay $30 to have some guy plug a cable into my wall), and I was up and running. So far, the speeds are ok at best. During peak times, it crawls around 250-350k, which is hardly worth messing with. I am paying for their 1MB package ($39.99), and it is irritating when it barely reaches 250k in the daytime. Also, between midnight and 1am it slows to around 300k as well (no excuse, considering midnight is not a peak time by any means). Bottom line, the people running the new company are freindly, but sorry, the internet service stinks. They desperately need to improve their bandwidth and lower their prices. They have a monopoly out in the boonies, and they sure know it.
