Total bullshit re the signup process.
Signed up for 'basic service" at $29 month
Been getting billed for 'enhanced service" for $39 month.
It was no accident, the sales rep BS'ed me & now the CSR's are BS'ing me.
Their service is not worth $39 month. I can get hawaiiantelcom dslr for $39 month.
The idea was they would be $10 cheaper. The $29 service is throttled down but that would be fine, RoadRunner handles my heavy traffic so I didn't need a fast service.
Clearwire will be deceptive so approach with care or go somewhere that doesn't lie so much in your face as they do.

Update: I've gotten over the price deception & the speeds/conectivity have improved.
Rural (home) areas do not get adequate signals, so it's not really a take wherever you want plugin modem because it doesn't work in all areas. Beware of that.

03-23-09 Service to my residence is dismal even though 2 yrs ago I was told it would be improving 'shortly'

The service at the office has become dependable, no issues whatsoever there.
Service at my residence ~2 miles away remains dismal to nonexistent.

    ?

HawTel's DSL is up to 3Mbps/768K for 29.99 a month.
Clearwire's max speed is 1.5Mbps/256K for generally the same price...nuff said.

    Re: ?

That's true for residential service but I installed the clearwire at the office & it's $39.99 for hawaiitelcom's business service. Oceanic RR at my home office is where the heavy duty up/downloading happens.

    Not anything good.

The connection is horrible everywhere in Hawaii.
Pricing for such laggy internet is total shit.
I rather pay $20 a month so I can actually enjoy watching Netflix without the connection being interrupted every 5 min for a 20 min wait til the movie plays.
