I went with clearwire for they stated they were going to release Wi-MAX in January of 2009. So I wanted to get in the low price $30 month for life of 1.2 mbps down 400k up. The Wi-MAX never came to pass. Now the word is November of 2009. They say speeds will be about 3 mbps down to about 10 to 15 mbps down. No price known yet. If you're a consumer of Internet that's ok. But if your producing content that is too slow. Not when you can get FIOS at 20 mbps down and 20 mbps up $70 I think we are in an age of content consumers becoming content producers.

| Horrible Customer Service! I had clearwire for about 3 years. BAD IDEA! It worked great for a while and then started to lose service a little bit everyday. Trying to get help....FORGET IT! That was hell, the people were very rude and would keep you on the phone for hours on end. The last of my horrible adventure pushed me over the edge. I called because my internet completely stopped working. I called in and it took about 2 hours for the guy to finally tell me that my modem was the problem. I thought, okay whatever send me a new one. When they sent me the new one, they charged me $12.42 for shipping! What the heck? That wasn't my fault the modem wasn't working...but whatever. Hooked up the new modem and it still didn't work! Called back, and the guy said that there was something wrong with my computer. My answer was I don't think so....seeing that I can access at least 6 other wireless networks! After all the hassle with being on the phone and getting nowhere I finally decided to say screw it and cancel my account. To my surprise that was hell also! Canceling service should be easy, but not with them. I had to talk to about 5 people just to get it canceled, and every person asked me about 3 times if I would like to give it just one more try. UGH....SO frustrating! Finally got it canceled and then they told me that I would get the money back for the modem that I had to pay for, here it is 2 weeks later and I haven't got anything back! I finally called today and told them that I needed that money back NOW since that wasn't my fault. They agreed and said that I would get the money back in 5-6 days. The final question I had was since I didn't have a contract why I was not getting my money back for the half of the month that my internet didn't work. They told me that there was no prorating, so I couldn't get the money back. THAT IS CRAP! I just paid you for internet that isn't working and I can't use? Forget talking to managers...they are flat out RUDE! Needless to say after talking to about 4 different people I am not getting money back for the time that I didn't have internet. This is such poor customer service! Do not go with this internet service...you will just get screwed over in the end! | |

| I agree the customer service is extremely poor. I travel a lot with stays in various cities for two to three months at a time. I thought I could simply bring my CrearWire modem when traveling. Thus a purchased a modem and got the M2M so I could not pay for it when I'm at home with my fiber connection. I went through 3 people before I could Cancel my service and was warned that there might be a $50 change to open a new account. This just floored me, I just wanted the account put on hold (turned off) for a couple of months. To do that, they wanted a $19 processing fee plus $10 a month that it was on hold (Yeah, like I'm going to pay them for nothing). I'm a business consultant. I do not need the Online Gaming or streaming performance that other require. This was a nice solution for me but I refuse to support companies with such poor business model since it will be a miracle if they are able to stay in business the way they are going at things. Luckily I ended up canceling my service the day prior to a new month. | |
