I'm confined to a hospital where I can't exactly have my own service hooked up. I was happy Clear was around, as I'm a gamer and I've used 3G before (such as Sprint Wireless) and the latency was horrible. With Clear I'm getting the full broadband experience including speed upto 9Mbps, and latency as low as 60ms to west cost servers. I was annoyed that they have priced the same service differnetly depending on the modem you choose. Theoretically you can use the home modem everywhere service is offered, same as the mobile option, yet they charge $20 more per month if you want something powered directly by the USB bus.. The home modem came fully firewalled by default and I couldn't receive any incoming connections, and the modem was password protected. Clear wouldn't give me the modem password and required that I call to have only select ports opened up. I found out the password is just generic "motorola" and the modem can be set up for DMZ which forwards all ports.
By the way, my extra awesome results with Clear might not be typical. My modem receives a full 5 light signal, and I was informed by Clear that I sit between two very close towers. I also live above all surrounding buildings and trees and have a direct line-of-sight to the towers, and the building allows exellent wireless penetration.
