I have had Dish for a few months now. Their HD selection is excellent, especially compared to most cable systems. I do miss the on demand features from my cable company especially with the movie channels. Their equipment is also awesome. Their HD DVR was much better than the Motorola the local cable company uses. The price is extremely competitive, you probably won't find a better price for their packages.
So reading above it would seem as if everything is perfect. Their customer support is horrid though. The AG settlement is a good representation of this company--I have never been treated so poorly by a company. I once had an issue where I would lose the signal quite often throughout the day--I was essentially told they would not do anything about it and also reminded me that I was under contract with them. Finally, I was so fed up I canceled despite the contract. The poor treatment of their customers I think is perhaps their biggest problem. They were losing subscribers (I think they still are)--it takes a lot of money to gain a customer so I have no idea why they do not care if they run people off.
If you visit forums you can also see long time customers becoming frustrating with them. Maybe the AG settlement will force them to improve on their policies. But I recommend to stay away for now.
