"Cheaper than cable, One Bill service, Home DVR (remotes can view recordings)"
"Can be hairy if you are beyond 2k' from the VRAD"
"Good combined service for the money"

I reviewed Comcast Cable but no one could tell me what the price would be after the introductory price was over. As a former Comcast customer, I do not like the company. I switched from Dish Network to U-verse because of cost and my DSL was horrible. With U-verse, I am running 3mb instead of sub ISDN on DSL.

Ordering was easy and the installer was there only an hour late. Installation was all CAT5 throughout, including from the NID to the RG (Motorola). All the STB's are connected via CAT5 to an 8 port Cisco switch then to the RG. The Network is sent from the RG to an 8 port Cisco down to a 16 port Cisco to connect to the wired machines and peripherals. Wireless works very well and file sharing is fine. There are XP, Vista and MAC in this network.

The VoIP works fine but there are a few items that we miss. One being on screen caller ID and the old fashioned SpeedCall (this we lost with the switchover). I do not get the echoing and drop outs that others complain about but I noticed that the old wall set does have a faint sound of data running in the background. None of the other phones or the cordless have that problem.

I do not have HD yet but when I do get an HD set, I will have that turned on. Oh, I am sorry, I cannot give you the monthly price as I am an employee of AT&T. I will tell you that the public price for U300, 3mb and 2 lines VoIP'd is very fair and less than I was paying with Dish Network and AT&T!

3mb is way to slow for uverse. If that is the kind of speeds they are going to offer with there service. They can keep it. JUST WAY TO SLOW!

Up to 18 Mbps down is available for most customers. A few only qualify for up to 10 Mbps down.

The 1.5, 3, and 6 tiers are options for all U-Verse customers, but they are just that: options.

Truthfully, 3mb is fine for my needs. As it is, this is faster than most LANS are running (that aren't fed by multiple T1's). Being in Data Services for the last 30 years, I can tell you that people are too infatuated with numbers.
