I ordered U-Verse for the 4th time in over 2 years and finally got it installed. My previous attempts failed because I still had a DSL line. It is really lame but AT&T won't let an order be placed if you have existing DSL otherwise they would have already had a customer for two years.

I am getting around 17.3 megabits down and 1.5 up (on the 18/1.5 package). The upload is pretty pathetic for VDSL considering in Japan I had 100/100 through VDSL. I switched as I believe they would be offering 24/2 soon which hasn't happened due to the 32/5 profile being rolled back and because of the fact my DSL lines deteriorated causing constant reboots and eventual lost of sync.

My biggest complaint with u-verse is the interleaving. My line supports up to 55 meg down so I don't even see why it has to be enabled or for everyone at this point. I get 25ms latency to my server in Los Angeles when I got 7-8 with DSL Extreme. My pings are generally 20ms higher everywhere with u-verse than when I had DSL Extreme.

I am really hoping that I can get DSL Extreme installed now that I already have u-verse up and running or if AT&T is going to block the order like they did when I had DSL Extreme and couldn't get u-verse.

    We shall see!
