We have had ATT's IP-DSLAM Uverse for about 3 weeks now and have had no service interruptions at all.
On ATT's website it indicated that my address only qualified for 768/384 speed which I knew better of. After some digging in the ATT Direct Forum here at DSLreports.com I was able to contact a Tier 2 agent and have my speed upgraded to the fastest possible for my loop (FYI- my loop is 11.9k ft and I am currently on the 3Mbps plan). I also almost made the mistake of initially ordering my service with a live agent over the phone and I would have been charged the $99 "activation" fee if I had proceeded- crisis averted!
Before contacting the Tier 2 techs here on this forum I had spoken with two Tier 1 agents over the phone and with Chat. Both stated 768k was the fastest speed I could get. DO NOT LET THEM FOOL YOU! If you know that you are within a given range to your C.O. that would qualify for faster speed then contact an ATT agent here on these forums. They were VERY helpful!
All in all, for the rural area where I live 3M speed is the best I can hope for. There is no fiber, no CATV, and no other options. I wish, like many of us, for faster speeds, but what I have now after some hard work is acceptable.
