Good "Speed package as advertised, professional staff"
- Location: undisclosed location
- Cost: $50 per month
- Install: about 7 days
Bad "No unlimited bandwidth and no static IP options for cable"
Overall "Well worth the switch if you are stuck on older 6M DSL"
5+ year loyal TekSavvy customer on DSL w/dry loop ($49.97 + HST), which is almost exactly what I am paying now for Start. DSL profile of 6Mbps/800k (with MLPPP/Static IP package), now using Advanced Cable Internet package from Start (28Mbps/1Mbps @ $49.95/month + HST) - both offer 300GB of bandwidth, although with TekSavvy 10$ more gets you unlimited (Start goes up to 400GB).
Waited patiently for a TekSavvy POI in my area which never materialized.
Order process was painless, which was all done online. Chose to prepay for modem ($100 + $10 for shipping), although the $50 installation charge was annoying. Was allowed to choose 3 appointment times. The modem is a Thomson/Technicolor DCM476 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem.
Rogers came onsite during first appointment window. Tech swapped coax splitter and tested circuit.
The Bad: The onsite tech offered to put up the modem on my particle board, and in the process broke the retaining plastic on the back of the modem.
The Good: Start was able to prod and push Rogers to come and see the evidence. Waiting on replacement modem or credit towards Rogers bill (we have other Rogers services)

Also considered Acanac but Start reviews swayed me towards them.
