Signed up with Start on the 22nd of May 2013. Order was placed for 45/4 Pro Cable Internet. Installation happened on the 29th of May 2013.
Installation was relatively quick and I was up and running within minutes while the technician was still there.
This is a huge improvement over my previous Legacy ADSL Connection (5/0.8) and during speed test runs I often see higher than 45. One time I peaked at about 80Mbps at roughly 10:40PM.
Steam games download now in matter of minutes rather than hours. Downloads and content stream faster and are more readily obtainable. I have not had issues streaming Youtube 1080P.
Rocca was extremely helpful in the pre-sales process and ensuring the switch over from DSL to Cable was smooth and painless. The DCM476 modem is also futureproof until DOCSIS 3.1 which we likely won't see till the end of the decade.
After the installation Start phoned and asked how the connection was and that's a great thing that Start does. It's not so often you see a company following up with a customer.
The benefit of choosing Start over Rogers is their additional bandwidth cap , no wait times , excellent support , and reliability. Take for example the same Rogers package (Extreme Plus) they charge $72 for 45/4 with a 150Gb cap. Start offers it for $59 (excluding taxes) with 300Gb. The key point is to vote with your wallet and to move away from the incumbents.
I had initially considered TekSavvy since my POI was recently migrated to APOI but I decided to try Start and it seems TekSavvy is currently experiencing some growing pains due to the migrations and everyone wanting to switch over to the new speeds. It's understandable that they are hiring but I believe it probably won't quiet down for TekSavvy until Fall or early Winter at the earliest.
Start also offers an Unlimited download window (off-peak hours) between 2-8am and Uploads are not counted towards the cap/quota.
Update (July 15, 2013): Upgraded to the Elite Cable Internet package and receiving higher than expected results.
