On March 3, 2000 I contacted PhoenixDSL via phone since 2 earlier e-mail inquiries were unanswered. Greg Koenig was very friendly and encouraging. I have just ended a disappointing exerience with Flashcom and was a bit apprehensive. Greg took the necessary information and told me I would get an SDSL connection of 208/208 for $45. a month on a 2 year contract. The price being quoted today is $39. This included free installation and hardware. The contracts and personal information questionaires were e-mailed the same day and faxed back. I sent a follow up e-mail to verify that the fax was received and got a quick reply that "the installation process has begun". I was told it could take anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks. That was 6 weeks ago and to date, no a word. I went to the Phoenix web site today to see if it is possible to get a status on-line. That was wishful thinking. I did, however, followed the 'Can I get DSL' link. After putting in my phone number and address, learned that DSL service from my CO is not available via Phoenix.
I have sent an e-mail to Greg asking for clarification. Is service available? If yes, when? If not, why hasn't anyone advised me? How could it have been available 6 weeks ago and not today?
4/17 - Got a reply from Greg stating he needs the Apt. number on my townhouse for the phone company, even though my e-mail had my name, full address, e-mail address and phone number included in the message he was replying to.
4/25 - Came home from work to find a note from BellSouth stating they were there to to the outside wiring but I wasn't home to let them in. Sent another e-mail to Greg.
4/27 - Got a reply from Greg stating he had "someone working on it. I will keep you posted."
5/17 - Came home from work to find another message from BS. No notification that they were coming.
6/2 - Came home from work to find yet another message from BS for yet another unannounced scheduled appointment. This can go on forever if I let it.
6/3 - This is the three month anniversary since requesting DSL from Phoenix. The 'S' in 'ISP' stands for 'Service". Phoenix is not an ISP and needs to change their name.
