I ordered a MagicJack Thursday evening [3 July] and it arrived Tuesday the 8th. It took about 2 minutes to set up and it was working. I'm using the USB dongle with a $6.95 corded phone from Wal-Mart. I've tested it on several computers, including a Dell Inspiron laptop connected via wireless and an old Dell Dimension 4100 [USB1 ports] and a USB2 non-powered hub. It works flawlessly, except some hiccuping and echo that occurred once or twice on the wireless laptop [may have been the wireless card, so we can't blame MagicJack for this]. My wife used for several hours once I set it up, and is very happy with it.
I really don't care that it doesn't have a number local to my area, since I intended it for outgoing calls only.
The website struck me as a bit smarmy with the 'last day for the free trial' bit, but I overlooked that for the pricing.
As for the fine print in the EULA, I don't care about targeted advertising when it's confined to the softphone and the softphone is non-intrusive.
I set it up with the free trial period, so I'll report back on whether I'm billed before the website said I would be billed.
I haven't had to deal with tech support at this time.
