Value for money:

When I first got cablelynx which I believe was 2001 or 2002 when the service first launched it had alot of growing pains in the first few years. Service started off at the same price I pay now but the speed was 1.5Mbps down and 1Mbps up. Since then there has been a steady increase in the speed over the years while keeping the same cost which is good. Over the years we went from 1.5 to 3 to 4, then 10 and now 16Mbps. There was a period of about one year around 2006 or 07 when the service would become pretty much unusable every night during prime time. Speeds would be below 1Mbps and packet loss was through the roof. Pages usually wouldn't even load. Then things became usable but you still couldn't get away with even streaming video during prime time. During this time the company always seemed willing to help and would do a truck roll pretty much once ever 2 weeks or so. They would sometimes be at my house for hours, checking the node, signal level, trying there own laptops, changing modems etc etc. It was obvious the problem was that they didnt have enough bandwidth at there backbone connection to the internet, but that took them quite along time to fix. They finally not to long ago switched from AT&T as there backbone connection to Level3. Things improved quite a bit then and that's when they increased to 16Mbps down, and introduced and new package called cablelynx turbo which is a DOCSIS 3.0 product with 50Mbps down and 2.5 up. I would love to try this however it is 120 dollars a month even if you have cable tv which seems way to steep to me. It would be nice just to be on a DOCSIS 3 modem though. Anyways. Just judging the company based on the last 2 months or so things have been extremely good. Everything works great. Netflix in HD, youtube in HD, amazon video on demand in HD, watching twit.tv live, all work great even during prime time. Speedtest's during prime time tend to be about 10 to 12Mbps out of 16Mbps which seems fair to me. There has been a time or 2 the past day or so when the speed test dipped to 6Mbps which i think might have to do with the rain the last 2 days and most people staying home during the bad weather. However even with the speed test dipping all the service i mentioned that I use still work great so they probably just have the speed test set to a lower priority then most traffic. In conclusion as of lately I have been very satisfied with my service, no complaints at all. I do feel that there prices are a little bit to high compared to most other cable companies, which im sure is because they have no competition here. The only other high speed internet in the town is AT&T DSL, however its not available in most neighborhoods, and it everyone I know that has had it couldn't get any higher speeds then 1.5Mbps. If things keep going as smoothly as they are now and we continue to get free speed bumps over the years ill be a very happy customer.

TL/DR version:

Having been a customer for 10 years theres been lots of ups and downs. Based on the last 2 months though service has been rock solid, and speeds have been very consistent. I would recommend cablelynx to people living in Hot Springs, AR. It's a little overpriced compared to other cable companies but the service has been quite good.

UPDATE 08/08/2012

About a month ago I called and upgraded my internet package from enhanced to turbo. I went from 16Mbps down 2Mbps up to 50Mbps down and 2.5Mbps up. The price is a bit crazy compared to other cable company's that offer similar speed. The service is $129 a month if you have cable TV. But the service has been rock solid. They replaced my emta with a Arris DOCSIS 3.0 version. I always get at least 45Mbps even during prime time, upload speed is usually a little over 2Mbps. Haven't had a outage in a very long time as well. They also recently created a facebook page and do a great job of answering any question when you post on their wall. Overall I'am very very happy with my internet service. They have really turned things around this year.
