On my initial review, I gave Callcentric a little ding for no phone support. I've since changed my mind and upgraded the support. I've never had to wait long at all for a response using their support ticket system, and they answer evenings and weekends in most cases. In addition, I usually get the answer I was looking for with only one response.
Callcentric is my first choice for incoming calls for my small business customers. The call quality is always excellent, and extremely reliable. I have no problems using them when a business considers their phone system critical, and they cannot afford to have the system go down due do provider issues. I sleep better at night knowing my customers are using Callcentric.
I'm writing this review more from the BYOD perspective, since I do on premise IP PBX consulting and installs for smaller businesses. One of the primary features I look for when using a VoIP service provider (other than the usual reliability and call quality ratings) is the ability to make things happen right away. Callcentric gives you the ability to set up a new account, purchase a DID(s), and have that number running in a matter of minutes.
I personally have been using Callcentric for over two years now, for both personal and business needs. I can't recall a time where I had any major issues with my phone service with them, and anything that affects the service that has occurred during this time peroid, I would have to rate as minor. I use and test a lot of different VoIP providers so I have several different offerings in order to meet the various requirements of my customers. Callcentric is at the very top of the list of the choices I turn to for a provider.
The only area I didn't give them the top rating was for Tech Support, however, this reflects their lack of phone support. Even though I have not had a need for phone support myself, I believe if you want a top rating here, it should be offered. Callcentric has always answered any support ticket I have opened up with them in a matter of minutes in most cases. Their replies have always been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. At one time, I asked them about the best way to route multiple DIDs in Asterisk, and they sent me the code to paste into my config file right away. Worked like a charm.
Their "Office Unlimited" plan with 3 channels of unlimited inbound calling is one of my favorites and I use it quite a bit with my smaller customers. For $8.95/mth, it's a tough one to beat. Kind of wish they would offer a flat rate outgoing business plan, but then again, their pay as you go outbound is not bad, especially for the quality. Love their "Dirt Cheap" DIDs, and I keep a vigil on certain area codes in case they become available in areas I use quite frequently.
