Northern Sacramento County has one CO in North Highlands. RTs were promised a few years back but never materialized. Recently, AT&T stopped providing service to anyone too far from the CO so very few people can get DSL where I live (densely populated metropolitan city). I do have a landline and the sound quality is pretty bad. Vonage is better. In short, their wiring and equipment in my area is old, antiquated, and outdated. They talk about U-Verse and all their new technology but fail to upgrade their entire system to an acceptable level. Seems to me that SBC and now AT&T buy companies like PacBell and then just milk them for money without improving or maintaining infrastructure.
DSLExtreme.com is a better alternative than AT&T.
