I ordered the basic service (dynamic IP/384 kbps down minimum) at $39.95/mo with a one year contract, $200 equipment charge, and free installation. I had problems installing the Realtek PCI Ethernet NIC and was unable to get tech support since I didn't yet have a SW Bell email account. I eventually sorted out the trouble on my own. On the other hand, the installation team arrived a week earlier than scheduled and had everything working for me at about 400 kbps in about an hour.
After tweaking the registry I consistently connect at better than 1000 kbps - of course it doesn't hurt that I'm less than one mile from the central office.
Billing has been a nightmare. The first month, I was billed for installation even though it was supposed to be free, and the next two months I was double billed for the service itself. My last bill was correct but it remains to be seen if things stay that way.
Technical support from SW Bell's central location leaves much to be desired, but the local Little Rock techs at 244-0009 are absolutely super!
I'm highly satisfied with the DSL service itself so far but would only recommend it to an experienced user. I'd *hate* to have to go back to dial-up service.
