Full disclosure: I am the old coot who owns the ISP. I try for objective self evaluation, but let the reader beware!!!!
One man shop - can be slow if I is busy; I am a cantankerous old coot who has too much to do - but service is very personal.
For much of the service area, there are no broadband alternatives - even where there are options, it is still the fastest. We have fiber to the home in much of our service area, and the wireless (I do both) is quite comparable to FTTH. I also offer dialup as a backup, and like all dialup, it sucks. Dialup is sadly primary access for some, but it isn't pretty.
The speed of connections depends on the specific service area, but minimum is 768kbps up and down. It is advertised as 512kbps up and down, so folks are usually pleasantly surprised. I have been upgrading the radios and some areas get 4 mbps up and down.
I use Tranzeo radios, but historically I have used Smartbridges and Insight equipment. As the Tranzeo stuff was manufactured slightly north of us in our climate zone, we see good reliability and few outages.
Again, FULL DISCLOSURE: I am the owner, and janitor of the ISP. Alan Cain
