After much debate, I decided to go with PSN for my DSL needs. For $80.00 a month, with 768/384 speeds, it seemed like a pretty good deal. I signed the 3 month contract since the modem came free if you did so. Chris, our sale guy at PSN, was very friendly and helpful before the actual install occured. after waiting 5 weeks for what, Chris promised to be, a 3 week project, I finally called Chris. I threatened to take my business elsewhere if the line was not installed soon. Amazingly, Covad was scheduled to come out two days later. So much for advanced notice. I took my day off of work and stayed at home that day. The gentleman from Covad impressed me. He was very knowledgable and friendly too. He hooked up my DSL line and was out of there in approximately 1 hour. Only one problem. PSN ordered the wrong line. It turned out to be an SDSL line running at 144 up and down. Not only that, they also shipped me an SDSL modem, doing me absolutely no good for the adsl line that I had ordered. After this, we called PSN, and asked them for a resolution. We were promised that it was being worked on. 3 days passed, and a resolution was not reached. In fact, PSN didn't call me once as they had promised so many times. I had to call and fight to get someone on the phone. After this, we became fed up and decided it was time for a refund. Of course, since Chris works off of commission, he wasn't too happy with this, and immediately said he was transferring us to someone, and suddenly I had a dial tone. I called back, and he had said the phone system must have fouled up, and transferred me to Mary. Mary is the director of provisioning. She then talked us out of the refund and said she would have a resolution for us within 24 hours. Never happened. Not even a call back. We then called Mary and demanded a refund. Ever since then, calls are never returned, and Mary is never anywhere to be seen. We finally got ahold of someone else in provisioning, and had our service fees refunded, however, the cost of the modem is still on the card. The provisioning department promised us instructions on sending the modem back, of course, we never received them.

It has been 3 months now. I still have an SDSL modem I cannot use and a $300 charge on my card. Luckily, American Express has been very helpful. I contacted them, and they put a hold on all charges. They are also contacting PSN on my behalf. I walked away from this breaking even. I encourage you not to be bothered by the hassel of PSN, and just go with a different provider from the get go.
