"Best feature set I've seen; Good PAYG prices; Excellent quality and reliability"
"Huh?"
"Stellar BYOD / PAYG Provider ... the clear leader."

I have tried the majority of the BYOD/PAYG providers that are discussed on BBR. VoIP.ms is the one that has the best combination of features, price, call quality and reliability, for my needs.
They have the major features I look for ..... BYOD, PAYG, Sub-Accounts, Ring Groups, Failover, CNAM (optional), E911 (optional), Configurable outgoing CID number, Music-On-Hold server, powerful CallerID Filtering. You can specify value or premium routes.
I have been using them since July '08 for termination and have been very happy. The calls are always high quality ( I use premium routes). I have never noticed an outage.
After Vonage raised their rates on the 500 minute plan, it was time to port my number over to VoIP.ms. The porting process took 3 weeks. I was advised of the status along the way. CNAM seems to be functioning perfectly.
I also have a toll free DID and another DID for fax. The DID for my fax was a special order and took a week. They generally have a good selection available for instant activation.
I have contacted their support via email and have received prompt replies that accurately addressed the issue.
When looking for a provider, you owe it to yourself to take a look at VoIP.ms!
---------------
Update 2/23/2009: I now have 4 DID's with voip.ms. Registered devices are Polycom 550 IP Phone, Linksys SPA-942 IP Phone and a SPA-9000 IP PBX. The Ring Group and Time Conditions features perform perfectly.
Based on Internet hops and latency, the NY server is closest to me. But, whenever I use it, the voice quality is slightly impaired. If I use Dallas, everything is perfect ..... so, I'm sticking with Dallas.
I made an inquiry to support a couple of days ago and I received a response within an hour. The ticket system issues they had in Jan/Feb appear to have been resolved.
I continue to recommend voip.ms as a primary provider.
--------------
Update 4/29/2009: They have now added the most powerful CallerID Filtering feature I've seen from any provider. That along with free IVR and Queues propels VoIP.ms past any of the numerous providers I have used.
I did contact support about a CallerID Filtering issue and received a response in under 6 hours. The response was appropriate and addressed the question.
If you want a provider that does little more than provide dial tone, take your pick. If you want somebody that provides service and features behind that dial tone, take look at VoIP.ms.
---------------
Update 6/25/2009: I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in VoIP.ms and a price increase for outgoing calls to TOLL FREE numbers.
I've been using them for almost a year now and have always had Premium routes selected. Calls to TOLL FREE numbers have always been $0.0025 per minute. I understand a small charge to discourage call dumping. The end of last month the rate increased to $0.0106 per minute ... for calls to TOLL FREE numbers! Support says it's because I have Premium routes selected, Value is still $0.0025.
Again, even with Premium for the last year it has been $0.0025, until the end of last month.
There is a lot to like about VoIP.ms, but this isn't one of them. Guess it's time to start sending outbound over another provider.

Update 8/19/2009: Voip.ms made a nice enhancement where you can have regular calls on the premium route and toll free on value (free). In the post below, Martin explains the sudden change in the toll free rate I experienced.
I've now been a customer for over a year and couldn't be happier. Voip.ms continues to expand the feature set and provide excellent service.

| toll-free VoIP.ms did not increase the premium toll-free termination. There was a glitch that made some account being charged the value rate even when the account was set to premium. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The good news is that you can now select your Toll-Free route via account settings, and toll-free calls to the value route is now free. I recommend you try it. | |
