Cable service above the basic levels gives you a good variety of programming but, unfortunately, you have to take a lot of bad with the good.

    - I don't watch that many channels, but the ones I want are in separate digital tiers. Cha-ching for TWC!

    - The digital service is a real roller coaster. When more channels are added the PQ goes down until TWC decides to upgrade local infrastructure. Right now many HD channels are being added (mostly duplicate or time shifted programming) which has had a negative impact.

    - Worst of all, their set top box inventory is extremely obsolete and barely capable of running their new Navigator software. For us non-DVR customers, the old Passport software worked fine. Navigator is slow for even simple program guide browsing, and will lock up with little provocation.

    - It took me over a dozen STB exchanges over four years to get one that didn't reboot frequently or have other problems; TWC is not competent to repair this hardware. Too bad that Cable Card technology is purposely crippled and badly implemented - a tech visit should NOT be required to install one!

    - The power on/off button of my current STB (SA 4250HDC) does Not have any useful function. When off, power consumption is still about ~16 watts 24x7. Thanks for nothing, TWC!

I am trying to set up an appointment to have a technician come and set up phone and internet. I am purchasing a house and because the seller has not cancelled their account I cannot set mine up. I have to wait for them to cancel, then call back to order service and then wait at least 7 business days for a technician to come out.

The reason for this is because their database will not allow two accounts at one address and it will kick the sellers account out of the system. Rather than fix the bug in their system they tell me I have to wait to set up service. Interestingly enough the electric company, security company, water company and garbage collectors don't have this problem. Just poor management of the schedule all around. I called the corporate headquarters to try and talk some sense into them but they won't have it. The policy is in concrete. If you want Time Warner you play by their insane rules. I don't really want Time Warner but I am stuck because no one else offers high-speed internet to my area except Hughes Net which is unbelievably expensive. Come on Verizon and AT&T get those DSL's rollin!!
