I ordered Minndspring DSL on April 21, 2000. I recieved an e-mail
confirmation from Mindspring.I also
recieved e-mail from COVAD. COVAD also confirmed the order for the
installation and set up an appointment
for me with PacBell. The appoimnent was schedule on April 28, 2000. On
April 26, 2000, the PacBell arrived
early in the morming @09:00AM. He took about an hour to check the line and
said everything was OK.
Then I recieved e-mail from Mindspring with a promotion: I get three
months of DSL for the price of one month
and that also counts toward my contract with Mindspring (Mindspring has a
6-month contract).
On the next day, I recieved an email from COVAD to schedule for my DSL
installation. It was scheduled on
Friday 28, 2000 between 12:00PM-5:00PM. Around 3:00PM a DSL technician
called me and asked me for
the direction to my house. I guessed that he was lost.
About 15 minutes later, he showed up and started the installation. He was
very knowledgeable about his job.
He checked my phone jack and said that this jack can't be use for DSL. He
ran a new DSL line from my phone
junction box to the room where I wan to install DSL.
It took him about 2 hours to complete the installation.
I have had DSL for 2 weeks now and so far I have no problem.
My download speed is around 80-90kbps. After tweaking with the Windows registry, my download speed is
improved to130-150kbps(Wow!!!). My bandwith is usually ranging from 600 -1100kbps.
Well, to sum up, it has been a smooth ride for me to switch from dial-up access to DSL since there were so
many horrible stories about DSL providers.
