Update 04/22/2008
at&t has been rock solid for me for the most part. I have them for two home lines - a grandfathered Elite plan as well as a Pro plan which is dynamic IP. For both I'm considered 12,500+ feet from the CO which is my connection type even though I have an RT nearby. I'm on a Plexar system so they tell me I can't use the RT which is maybe 3,000 feet away! No big deal as my lines work almost perfect. I do have to tweak them by keeping any external noise down to a minimum which can be hard to do in an apartment complex but I seem to manage!
Have never had a problem in 1 year now.
Now after 2 years I have been upped to the 6016/608 package about 6 months ago. It worked great for 5+ months and then recently started seeing sync loss. Upon testing of my line it was determined that my 12000+ distance was the cause. Line checks perfect and I suspect other factors causing crc errors which cause sync loss. It is random and not frequent so it is not a big problem.
All SBC techs as well as ASI techs have been nothing but super in helping me. I even placed a call once to tier1 support and the Indian person was helpful in that he instantly understood my situation and sent my problem to tier2.
All and All, SBC is great and they do try to deliver what they promise! I am an exception because I'm on a Centrex line which prohibits the use of the RT that is only 2000 feet away. So I have to go via CO and at 12,000 feet it is still not bad considering they normally don't even allow this rate at this distance. Other than my recent sync issues, I have had a rock solid connection for close to two years now. I think I can recall one time that my service was out and it was a very brief 10 minutes.
I'd recommend SBC to everyone who has them available.
