When I first got SBC DSL, it was in February of 2001. It was through a deal with SWB that you'd get a Compaq Presario and DSL for like 20 bucks and 20 for the computer. The line then I think was the 1500/128 they offer now. It took quite some time before we got everything though. It took about 2 months for some reason I don't remember. But once we got it, it took a day before the DSL would work, but for the rest of the year, I don't remember it going down once. I briefly switched from SBC to Comcast which was a huge mistake, which was for about a week or 2. Then switched back. I recently upgraded to the SBC Pro DSL which is 3000/384 for 36.99. It honestly is the best bang for the buck so to speak as Comcast is absolutely horrendous. If you're thinking about SBC, take a chance.

    **update**

I've had the Elite(6/768) tier for quite some time, I got it as soon as it was available to me. It's still just as reliable as ever(went down only once last year). Still the best price in my area. Great service.

    **update as of 5/08/08**

Still on the same package as before(the Elite package). I've had 0 problems with the service. No downtime at all since the last time I updated my review. I can't comment on tech support as I haven't had a problem so there was no reason to ever call. Service is rock solid. I'd like to see faster speeds available, but I'm still happy with what I have.

    **update as of 1/21/09**

U-verse finally arrived in my area back in September of last year so I now have that. But, I guess in the end, that doesn't matter as it's still all through the same company. I have the 10/1.5 package and it's been absolutely solid. I did have an issue at the beginning with my pings, but that was quickly resolved once AT&T came back out.

Service is solid, reliable, no issues at all since the blip after I had U-verse installed. Tech Support was fantastic and took care of my problems right away.

    just wondering...

sounds like a reliable service but does your line have interleaving on it?

    185 a month???

Must be a typo or you're adding other cost on top of that
    Such as telephone and cellphone?
