[Edit: 2009-09-05: New 12 month contract, 30Mbps/3Mbps for €30/mo.]

I've had UPC internet since 9/2008 as part of a digital cable/phone/internet bundle. Installation was via a self install kit consisting of an Arris cable modem, splitter, and cables. Service came up on the date promised and has been reasonably solid.

Unfortunately, if you experience transient outages, do not expect a timely resolution. According to UPC, there has been a known issue in my neighbourhood for over a week, yet no resolution to-date and no ETR. No updates are posted on their website, either. (The website, incidentally, indicates no current outages; they only will tell you if you phone in at a cost of 10 cents per minute) This, of course, means my phone calls drop unexpectedly, the cable modem goes down for 10+ minutes at a time, and the interactive portions of the digital cable don't work. Maybe this is par for cable internet service; I've always had DSL in the past, so it's quite shocking to me.

[Edit: The issue was resolved almost 3 weeks to the day after onset. There was no notification of resolution, as they don't keep open tickets when you phone in; hence, there is no follow up to close them. I only know it is resolved because the service resumed working normally and has been up consistently thereafter.]

All that being said, until FTTH reaches my front door, UPC is the fastest and best priced ISP alternative I have found. UPC is now offering speeds up to 120Mb/10Mb via DOCSIS 3.
