Above is for UsFamily exclusive of $26 or so to Quest. Speed of 1.5mb
(their fastest offered) You can get it for $111/year but...

There is an undisclosed 10gig/mo cap, which, if exceeded, leads to being cut down to less
than dial-up speed without warning or email notification. This can be very frustrating.
Needless virus checking, equipment swaps & resets, Telephone repair truck rolls, ect. just
because they do not disclose the monthly download cap. -Note- They use a running 30 day
period to calculate your usage so do not expect a return to normal download speeds any
time soon if they cap you. 10gig covers normal browsing, a little Utube, but if you intend to
grab one or more DVDs in a 30 day period, be very very cautious.
IE: A Linux install CD (1 1/4 hr dl) can have 6gigs of updates and added packages after installation.

Aside from the above, usfamily rates well especially in customer service. Overall Up Time
is good. Planned down time is notified by email and is scheduled at night. Outrages also
tend to occur during non business hours so it is handy to keep the phone number of friend
who also runs usfamily to help diagnose things when the unthinkable occurs.
Actiontech 701gt modem was $60 6-7 years ago. I bought two & used the spare
one for diagnosis till the first one recently went south.

Costs including the additional Qwest phone charges in Minneapolis may be higher than
competitors for similar advertised (claimed) speeds, but somehow a disclaimer of
"UP TO", right from the get go, and admissions that speeds "might" slow down at
peak hours, or when the weather is bad ? Hmm

I am an old guy with a crank phone & been with usfamily for 10 years and just hate change.
Have not tried the competition, nor
have I tried usfamily's brand of phone service so your mileage may vary.

PS: Maybe one of the best things, an a big reason I can recommend & keep
using this company is that that they do not fill my mailbox with junk & they
have not sold my address to tons of "affiliates"; unlike my bank who is about
to get their "walking papers" for just that.
PPS: And I do not have to press one to talk in English.
