Value for money:
We got a mifi 2200 for Virgin Mobile from Walmart. We needed for our cross country road trip for Christmas and because we didn't have internet at the location we were staying at for 2 weeks.
It was $140 for the mifi. I also purchased a top up for $40 which includes unlimited broadband and it expires in 30 days. 6 days into it and we are already at 3 gigs.
However, here is the issues:
1. decent connection in the mornings but slows to a crawl in the afternoon and at night. It's barely useable.
2. This uses Sprint's network but I don't think it's maxing out the speeds. We still have to tether to my AT&T to do any streaming of hulu or netlfix.
The price is reasonable and having a mifi is nice. I would have gone with clear and their puck but we knew we wouldn't get reception on the trip from Atlanta to Austin.
Also, the initial installation of it was HELL. Took 1.5 hours and after that mess I still couldn't get it to retain the credit card number. Ended up just choosing top ups for future uses. I also called customer service cause I needed them to fix something on their end. It was very challenging. I do IT work for a living so I am very familiar with these systems. It wasn't anything I was doing wrong.
