I found myself without a wired broadband ISP, but expected a new wired broadband ISP to be able to provide service within a year. So I wanted the best broadband available with no contract. DSL was considered, and rejected. (It's not the late 90s after all and I no longer even have a wired phone line). Of the wireless broadband providers, Clear was/is basically the only one to still offer not-horrible speed with no data cap or overages. Getting the antenna positioned just right took some doing, but once I found the sweet spot, it was perfect. That's really the only difficulty I ever had with the service. Speed and latency were consistent, even in bad weather, once I was pointed in the right direction. I highly recommend Clear if you happen to be in their coverage area and need an alternative to wired broadband. I don't know if it's any good for mobile use, as I used the service exclusively from my home. member for 20.5 years, 94 visits, last login: 2.6 years ago updated 8.8 years ago |
