I've been with ERF since 2008, when they first offered service in my area. It is currently the only high-speed rural WISP where I live, there are no other options. The install was quick and the technician friendly and knowledgeable. Customer service has always been friendly and helpful. This company DOES NOT do any sort of throttling of any P2P protocol of any kind, including the .torrent protocol. Also, in all the years I've been with ERF my service has only gone down 5 times, and all those times it was fixed the same day. During slow hours, when not that many people are on the tower, I get great ping for most online games. (However, this is usually in the middle of the night, from 12AM to about 7AM)

That was the good stuff, now let's get down to the bad. The tower I am connected to is SLOW. REALLY SLOW. It didn't always used to be like this; I've never changed towers and it used to be quite fast, but there are WAY too many people on the one I'm connected to now. I used to play Counter Strike on this tower all the time, and the highest ping I would get would be in the low 200's during peak hours, and now it's unusable during peak hours. (1000+ ping) The download speeds during peak hours are around 150kbits/sec, which is pretty abysmal. Not only that, the technician I spoke to told me that if ERF ever decided to do upgrade on old equipment, we would be one of the very last ones to get a tower upgrade, which is rather irritating. (I've had the same radio on my house for 6 years)

If you don't have any other choices, ERF is not the worst ISP in the world, but if you can get any sort of cable internet, that would be the way to go.
