Speed should be 1Mbps, but currently maxed out at 672 Kbps because of line problems. Alcatel modem, using PPPoE. Installation was easy.
It was adequate for almost 3 years, but performance has been deteriorating over the last 6 months. It seems related to a bridge tap in my area and routing problems.
I called maintenance many times, but they didn't fix anything yet. Supposedly, they are renewing some equipment in my area.
======================== Previous problems Finally FIXED. ========================
Now I get 1350/320 kbps like I should.
First line technical support is often bad. Almost looks like a strategy to discourage customers from calling.
Sympatico forces you to rent the modem ($10.00/month). Even if you have one already, they will still charge for and send you one.
Another annoyance, they don't offer IMAP support on their EMail servers.
[December 2005] I have "downgraded" to dialup (unlimited for $5.95/month) because I don't need a second broadband connection anymore...
[May 2008] I am not using their services anymore. They canceled their offer for the 6 bucks dialup deal...
