After having been away from bell i went back again a little while ago.
Aside from the throttling as a reason to stay away from them, here are a few more reasons:
was told it was a 2 year contract to start (with lcd monitor), somehow several techs told me 3 years until i finally spoke with someone in sympatico direct forum who could figure out what 24 months equated too.
technicians are beyond stupid. I work in a call center. I know what the hoops/scripts they have to read, but that doesnt explain the frustration i have. As in being told i have a virus/spyware because i am loosing pings, yet 4 hours later it clears up, adn the lack of understanding what "provisioning" is.
Supervisors are no better and still seem to have the listening skills of a bowl of cereal.
Had msn inexplicably added to my acocunt ( a 10$ fee per month) for no reason, and the only reason i found out is because again i had to ask, not even the sympatico direct forum advised me flat out there was a recent change to the service
when i moved, my speed was incorrectly set at 3mb and not 5mb like it should have been, and attempting to tell a tech that the line was provisioned for 3 and not 5 some how blew their minds.
There is a lot of flak about the throttling, but there is sooo much more wrong with this company than that. Do not bother. Go with a small ISP in your area, same speed, basically same price, and it will be a WAAAYYY better expirience.
