It took a while to finally get Bell to come and install high speed. A previous job required an additional line into the house. We had a nasty piece of equipment called a AML box in the basement, and also a card at the CO. These have to be removed to get hi-speed. Apparently Bell doesn't remove these. It took a while, but after lodging an executive complaint, the wheels got in motion. We required a co-ordinated service call, to the house and the CO. Well, it wasn't co-ordinated well. The tech never showed at the house, but the CO did their end, leaving us without a phone for 24 hours.Some co-ordination that was.
The tech that showed up the following day, (after having to scream at the Bell supervisors), was really good and helpful. He traced the lines from the CO, and thought it was rather far. Our initial speeds were very low. He was told that we couldn't expect higher speeds than that,(~160). I told him that thats not right, because neighbours have great speeds. He must have thought about it some more, and called me the next day (Sunday). He said that he would re-route our line the same way our neighbours was. He did that and everything has been pretty good since. Apparently, when hi-speed became available in our neighbourhood, we were not put on the new profile because of the AML on the line at the CO. Everyone else was re-routed but us. The CO is about 5.2 Km away.
Anyways, it was really good service from the installer that finally showed up on a Saturday. He` was very helpful and knowledgeable, and went beyond the call of duty.
Update Mar. 18/04: Service has been great! Got the upgrade early on and speeds averaging 2500/800. Fantastic and stable. Way to go Sympatico.

| Confused about review I'm confused about this review. The site says that it was updated a couple of days ago yet the last update in the text was Mar. 18, 2004. Is this a software or user glitch and this extraordinary review somehow got flagged as "updated" without any change from 4½ years ago?
I believe that much has changed in the past 4½ years. | |
