My present job we found that we were load-balancing a connection with Cogeco cable and Bell DSL. Load-balancing was a mis-nomer, as the DSL connection would fail at least once every 1/2 hour if not more every day. Calling tech support was hours long wait on hold, and the first level techs knew nothing about any setup other than a home user system, even when calling the business cue. Trying to get a manager was like puling teeth, and their second level techs didnt' know anything more then the first. This was of course after every time I would call in that they couldn't service me (HA! Service!) because I was not the person on the account, but instead the CTO who is rarely there. The amount of time that we had to state that I was authorized to call in for support for the company onyl to have them forget to note it was a dark irony. In fact, I dont think they ever took notes, or even know how to use their CRM tool(s). When fianlyl reaching the last manager we were informed if we wanted something reliable, we would have to get a T1. WE then tried to terminate our service only to find that we were bound into a year contract and would have to pay 300$ termination fee (one reason never to get one with Bell). So with a month to go on the contract we called to cancel. A few weeks later we called again to ask why they hadn't sent anything to pick up their modem. We found out it was because they had ignored our request and signed us up for another year, and wanted 300$ to cancel the service. Sounds like AOL doesn't it? Long story short and threats of legal action later, they are finally gone, we do not get bills from them at all, and if our VOIP solution was more reliable, we could pitch the landline and be completely free of the incompetence that is Bell Canada. I await that day.
And for those looking for internet, do yourself a favour, stay as far away from Bell as possible. Your blood pressure, hairline, and stomach will thank you.
