    My Other Reviews·TekSavvy Solutions..
I was a residential dry DSL customer of Bell's, when they rolled out the Optimax service in my area. I chose to order it through the Business department, as it came with a static IP and no bandwidth cap, both of which appealed to me.

First they tried to install business DSL service on the residential phone number, which failed. But not before delaying my install by a week while they sorted out what went wrong. Finally they setup my circuit as a business line and number, and activated the DSL service.

The service was installed in February of 2007, and the sync rate was 8000/800. Before they sold it to me they promised me that it would go up to 16000/2000 by the end of the summer. In October I decided to follow up, and was told they had no intentions of upgrading the speed of the connection. Ever. Keep in mind I'm getting 2 megabits more download capacity than their regular residential customers, and absolutely no improvement to my upload over a residential customer. And paying almost four times as much.

At first I was paying monthly using online banking. Later I decided I'd put it on my credit card as a recurring payment. After no fewer than 5 phone calls I was told this was impossible. I sent an email to the executive response team asking why Bell didn't want to take my money. I guess I phrased it right, because I got a prompt response (the only time this has ever happened) and was still told it was impossible. A little while later I explored the online bill manager (I'd been receiving a bill mailed to me each month up until this point), and discovered that I could actually setup a recurring payment by credit card. Someone should inform their employees.

The happy ending? I've just had two dry loop lines installed through a CLEC (30 bucks each), and purchased a DSL login from TekSavvy which lets me bond together the two lines for 12 megabits down and 1.6 megabits up. I have a static IP and a /30 subnet, better latency, and better service. The bill from TekSavvy is $20.14, putting my total bill well under $100 bucks.
