(ratings above consensus)

I've had the service for about a month now. I was originally set on a 3mbit profile, and upgraded to a 5mbit profile 3-4 days later. Brief disconnect, and I was surfing again, at double the speeds.

The speeds have been great so far, throughout the day. It's been consistent. Being a mild gamer, I was happy to see my latency on most servers is under 40ms, reaching as low as 15-25ms.

I signed up to the Total Internet Performance 2 year contract, for 24.99$ for the first 3 months, and 44.99$ thereafter(-5$ with a bundle). This contract has a 60gb limit, which is the only real downside. I'm not a heavy downloader, but 60gb is still relatively easy to go over if you do a lot of P2P sharing.

Bell is throttling, but it seems like they aren't throttling every user. I've been getting great speeds on uTorrent at anytime during the day, though a friend of mine, a few days ago, was getting VERY slow speeds on the same tracker I was getting 500kb on. He's a heavier downloader, and still on the old Unlimited plan. Maybe it has something to do with it. I can't really confirm.

So far the service has been excellent, but I'll be sure to update my review as hiccups occur.

    Throttling

Throttling is area specific. If you live in the middle of nowhere chances are you aren't throttled.

    Throttled even outta town

I'm like just over 4kms from there server an out of town getting throttled an capped to rrunning download speed of 1005kbps an a upload speed of 305kbps. For those speeds Dial up sure did seem a lot faster. I can't even playing any online games like battle Field2 or even any half life 1 games online an that game hase been out for ages an it worked alot better on dialup back in it's early days of online gaming cause of Bell an there capping. An in my area I can't even get cable for isp . Can go an am thinking of going wireless with either ripnet or xplorenet ..

I have one question to BELLS ostumersC AN be Honest .

Do Yeah Feel Like You Are The Criminal For Paying To Use Bells Internet Services ?? Yes or No ??

    Re: Throttled even outta town

I was with RipNet before signing up with Bell, and it definitely wasn't a smooth ride. I signed up with RipNet back in spring 2005. It works well for the first few months, but it quickly became problematic to have a solid connection, especially during the night. Frequent disconnects, massive slowdowns, slow speeds almost every night. I think they overloaded the tower I was pointing at, because at about 11pm at night, my speeds would be great again.

I'd go with Xplornet if I was you. I think they have much cheaper packages than RipNet. I think there's always that odd chance that whatever ISP you go with, you can run into a lot of issues. For me, Bell has been flawless in terms of reliability, consistency, and overall performance.
